GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — An armed robber is on the run after pulling a gun on an elderly woman in her driveway in Germantown Monday.

The victim told police she was washing her car when a man walked up and pretended to offer yard work.

Moments later, police said he grabbed her purse out of her car.

she confronted him, and that’s when he pulled a pistol on her.

It happened Monday around 10:30 a.m. on Fox Grape Cove, north of Poplar.

“It’s just scary. It’s frightening for it to be so close to our house,” said Tammy Evangelisti, who lived next to the victim. “We are going to be on the alert now especially with our kids playing in the cove. ”

Police said the robber had a gray Ford Windstar with a license plate beginning with “660.”

“It’s just bold!” said Pat Tamboli , who lived a few streets over.

He said crime was becoming a little too familiar.

His car and neighbor’s house were broken into a few months back.

“They went out and dusted my car , because I had washed it previously. They picked up some fingerprints,” he said.

No one has been arrested yet.

In January, there were two other armed driveway robberies and a home invasion in Germantown.

Police are not connecting those crimes to Monday’s.

“It’s hard to believe it is happening in this neighborhood. We moved to this neighborhood for the peace and quiet,” said Tamboli.

Police believe the robber could be anywhere.
