MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Collierville attorney entered a ‘not guilty’ plea to charges he tried to hire someone to kill his wife.

Fred Auston Wortman, III is charged three times with trying to kill his wife.

He reportedly tried to hire an inmate to kill her and tried to poison her with tainted toothpaste.

Wortman’s wife reportedly became ill as did one of their children.

Of the two people Wortman reportedly tried to hire, one was a TBI agent undercover.

Wortman, who has a $15 million bond, has a trial date set for December 1.
