MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Human Services has suspended a daycare where a child was locked inside alone.
The same center has had several violations since 2014.
The suspension is pending a hearing.
A number of the citations were regarding supervision and surrounded incidents where there were too many students and not enough teachers. There were also situations where evaluators noted children just weren’t properly supervised.
WREG found similar complaints online.

The 2-year-old boy was found inside the Discovery Zone Learning Center on Dec. 7.
A woman went to pick up her 2-year-old at the daycare, but her son was locked inside crying, with nobody else around.
That’s when the mother called 911. Officers forced their way into the building to get the child.
Police are still working to figure out why the child was left alone.
The grandmother of the 2-year-old told WREG the family wants to know why this happened.
“It’s bothering me, and I’m so upset. I’m upset that they allowed this to happen because they could have, I don’t understand, how did they not know? They have a sign in sheet; you sign in, and you sign out.”
WREG went inside the daycare to speak with the owner.
A worker said the owner wasn’t there. Once we reached her over the phone, the owner refused to comment.
