MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Southaven mother is searching for answers after her son was found dead on the side of a dirt road in Memphis.

Calvin Holloway was just 25-years-old. He was trying to go back to college to be a high school counselor.

He disappeared Sunday. It took days for police to find his body near Holmes and Crossfield.

“I don’t want to feel nothing right now,” said Glender Holloway.

Holloway told us she was numb and in a daze. She found out Thursday her son was dead when police knocked on her door in Southaven.

“I want you to come home and I love you. I don’t know how I’m going to make it without you right now. I don’t know,” Glender said looking upwards so her son could hear.

Police said Calvin was murdered, but haven’t said who did it or why.

We do know his truck was a few miles away near Oakshire Apartments.

“They didn’t just take somebody, they took somebody’s son. They took somebody’s brother,” said friend Jamie Kennedy.

Close friends were baffled Thursday night by it all and said Calvin was loved by all.

“Happy, loving person. You could have done that man wrong, and he still would have been there for you,” said Kennedy.

In January, skeletal remains were found behind the victim’s home in Southaven, but he wasn’t a suspect.

An inmate called in the tip to police.

Tonight, police are trying to find out if the incidents are connected.

His mother is just hoping for justice and waiting for the pain to sink in.

“He was always there. I’m going to miss him. I’m going to miss him real bad, real bad,” she said.

Family and friends have their suspicions who the killer is. They say they’ve told police what they know.
