MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An Illinois woman is charged with disorderly conduct after a stampede on Beale Street late Saturday night.

Police say Alexis Davis was told to stay off Beale Street due to a stampede that had just happened.

Officer say Davis repeatedly refused to leave the area and lunged at the officers.

A police report states Davis “grabbed for an officer’s gun, causing it to become unsecured.”

Davis is being held at the CJC.

Also being held is Lawrence Anderson, who is from Memphis.

Police say Anderson also refused to leave Beale Street after the stampede.

Police say several hundred people were running east from 2nd Street  down Beale St., then down B.B. King Boulevard.

Then a few minutes later, police say “several hundred people began running west on Beale St. from Rufus Thomas trying to exit the street.”

Beale Street was closed at that point.
