OXFORD, Miss. — Just days ago, three Mississippi couples were died when their plane crashed in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Their deaths left behind eleven children with no parents. When Ole Miss head football coach Hugh Freeze heard, he decided to invite the kids to football practice as a distraction. “You search for answers, and you’re just at a total loss of words and I know the Oxford community though because I’ve lived here for five years and three before and I know that they will rally, I know that, uh, that we’re going to do our part in helping these young kids have a future that is secure, and I know their families will too and we’re here to help,” Freeze told WREG. The Rebels spent time playing with the kids and letting them go through practice drills. Killed in the plane crash were Dr. Austin Poole and his wife, Angie Poole, who had a dental clinic in Clarksdale. Dr. Michael Perry and his wife Kim Perry operated a dental clinic in Oxford as well as the Oxford-Lafayette Sportsplex. Dr. Jason Farese and his wife Dr. Lea Farese. They were dentists at Farese Family Dental in Oxford.
