MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A live video on Facebook showing two people unconscious on the sidewalk is going viral.

According to police, the two people said they “snorted some heroin” in a nearby Walgreens bathroom.

Someone driving by saw them lying on the sidewalk at South Pauline Street and Eastmoreland Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Monday and called 911.

Memphis Fire revived the husband and wife, who were both then taken to the hospital in noncritical condition, police said.

Police found the woman, Carla Hiers, had a warrant out for her arrest, so they took her into custody.

Courtland Garner posted a Facebook Live video of the incident, showing the two sprawled on the sidewalk and onlookers commenting on them.

“What they were doing was children things. It was a spectacle. It made me laugh. They can help themselves,” said Garner. “I know for a fact all the kids are on social media, and when kids see that video, you know what they are going to say? I don’t want to look stupid like that I don’t want to do those drugs.”

It has been viewed more than 400,000 times.

Karen Morgan with Turning Point Recovery Memphis and its suburbs are all seeing an uptick in heroin overdoses.

“People tend to think they’ve done it to themselves. Well no they haven’t. Their brains have been changed by the use of the chemicals,” she said.
