MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men have been charged in the shooting death of an 18-year-old who was gunned down at a party in Cordova.
Police say Aaron Marr, 18, and Jeylon Harvey, 19, started shooting at a crowd of party-goers at the Country Squire Apartments on December 10 after they were turned away.
Eddie McDonald, 18, was hit and killed.
Marr and Harvey are each charged with first-degree murder, five counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony.
Family members tell WREG McDonald had recently finished his first semester at Southwest Tennessee Community College, where he majored in criminal justice, and that he wanted to be a police officer.
“[Eddie said] ‘I want to make things better, I want to make a change in this world.’ And now he’s never going to get that chance,” he said.
McDonald’s killing marked the 217th in the city this year.
“I know my parents will probably never be the same,” he said. “You never think it’s going to be you, but it was.”
