MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A child was rushed to the hospital after shooting himself but sadly did not survive, police said.

Police said it happened in the 1000 block of Parkland Road.

The 8-year-old victim went to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in critical condition but died not long after, police said.

We’re working to learn more about the circumstances behind the shooting.

This marks the fourth shooting involving a child since Friday night. A 4-year-old was accidentally shot in the neck Friday night and remains in critical condition. Then Saturday night, police say a toddler got ahold of his father’s gun and accidentally shot himself. Shortly after midnight Sunday, a juvenile was shot while riding a bike in Frayser.
