MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Authorities are searching for the suspect who stole a car with a young child still inside.

Police said it happened at the Shell gas station at Ketchum and Airways around midnight.

The victim told officers she went to pay for gas and when she returned, the vehicle was pulling out of the parking lot with the 7-year-old girl asleep inside.

She flagged down officers at a nearby Family Dollar and reported the incident.

Thankfully, the 2003 Nissan Altima  was located in the 2300 block of North Orchard with the little girl inside. She was still asleep.

The suspect was no where to be found.

The owner of the car has been issued a minor citation for her role in leaving the child unattended in the car.
