MEMPHIS, Tenn — The Memphis Police Department is investigating after a woman was found dead Tuesday night on Mud Island.
Officers responded to a call on the 900 block of Island Drive around 7 p.m.
Upon arrival, authorities located the woman who was pronounced dead.
Police confirmed Wednesday that they are investigating the case as a homicide. No suspect information is available.
People who live on this area tell us they heard what sounded like gun shots Tuesday night.
A neighbor says that he was watching television with his wife when he saw flashing blue lights outside.
“I saw cops running down the street,” said the man. “Within three minutes there were like nine or 10 more cars just pulled up – then the EMS, paramedics and the fire chief showed up.
