HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — Authorities have confirmed that the lock down on schools in Holly Springs has been lifted although the suspect in question is still missing.

According to Desoto County Sheriff Bill Rasco, the schools were put on lock down after a suspect took off his ankle monitoring bracelet and disappeared in the area.

Holly Springs Police Chief Dwight Harris confirmed the suspect is Antonio Sims Jr, and he was out on bond for a previous murder charge. Police Chief Harris also said that authorities believe Sims Jr. helped Antoine Adams escape from a Marshall County jail.

Both the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Desoto County Sheriff’s Department participated in the search for Sims.

Authorities looked through wooded areas around Holly Springs while searching for the suspect.

Parents whose children attend schools in the area report that the school were on lock down since 12:30 p.m Wednesday afternoon, and they are still waiting to pick up their children from school.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at (901)-528-CASH.
