MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men are charged in the murder of a Memphis music teacher.
Christopher Waters, 30, was found dead in his home on Pipers Gap Friday.
Nicholas Brooks, 22, has been charged with first-degree murder during a felony.
Police said Brooks was found near the murder scene in a car owned by Waters.
Ladarius Wilson, 22, has been charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.
Waters was a well-known music instructor at Amro Music and was teaching at a Shelby County high school.
It appears he may have been the victim of a home invasion.
“He’d teach them to play their first note, how to hold the bow. That really was what lit up his day. You could tell it on the kids walking out because they left with an experience, not just an instrument,” Amro’s C.J. Averwater said.
Amro employees said they planned to set up a tribute fundraiser for their former colleague.
This is the 214th homicide of 2016, setting a new record for the city.
