The 2020 Grammy Awards airs this weekend on News Channel 3. At least five of this year’s nominees have ties to the Mid-South and WREG has a special show airing at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 to introduce you to our local nominees. Get to know them here.

Which West Tennessee soul icon is set to be honored by the Recording Academy this April? 
Answer: Isaac Hayes (Born in Covington, Tenn). He recorded much of his music in Soulsville at Stax Records and is also in the Songwriters’ hall of fame for his work alongside David Porter for Sam and Dave’s “Soul Man.” His hits include “Walk on By” and “Theme from Shaft." Old Town Road is the longest-running number one hit on Billboard’s Hot 100, but before that, another hit with Memphis ties held that record. What song is it? (Be warned, once you start singing it, you just can’t stop!)

There are only two Grammy museums in the world. One of them is in Los Angeles. Where is the other located?

The Grammys were hosted in several locations before settling in Los Angeles. What Mid-South city hosted the awards show in 1966?
