MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Southaven Police say one person was shot and killed in a shopping plaza Saturday morning.

Police responded to a shooting call at the Party Works on Airways Boulevard near Goodman Road. According to police, a 24-year-old male went to the hospital in critical condition.

He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Desoto.

Shots fired inside of this Southaven business has left a lingering impact across the community. Not only is there a heightened sense of concern, but also a feeling of disbelief among the customers like Carolyn Green and Allison Liddell.

“It’s scary, that is scary to me. I just come here and don’t even think. I just come and get what we need,” Green said.

“It’s very surprising because, really, it’s a quiet place around here. I wouldn’t think that a shooting would just go down here at a party store.

In light of what happened, customers like Green want to see a larger presence from law enforcement.

“More patrol. More patrol cause I’m in a shopping center myself. My business is in a shopping center, so more patrol. Look out for us,” she said.

The suspect’s vehicle is a red Dodge Charger with two black racing stripes down the middle with “SRT” on the back glass. The vehicle displays a TN drive out tag.

If anyone has any information on the location of this vehicle or the occupants, please contact the Southaven Police Department at (662)-393-8652 or email TIPS@southaven.org.
