Haley Townsend serves as the Nexstar Digital East Region Audience Executive Producer for 12 local news websites across Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. She brings years of local and national digital news management experience, joining the team after a stint at NewsNationNow.com as the senior digital producer that helped lead the launch of the national news network’s digital platforms in 2020.
Haley was born and raised in Birmingham, Ala. where she got her start in local news in college, heading the student newspaper while pursuing a degree in English, professional writing and public discourse with a minor in business administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Haley began her professional broadcast/digital journalism career at the Nexstar-owned CBS affiliate in Birmingham, Ala. where she later became the digital team lead. She reported on Hurricane Michael and assisted NewsNation affiliate stations WMBB (Panama City) and WDHN (Dothan) with their 24/7 coverage as the storm tore through the Panhandle and in the weeks that followed.
Haley led the digital team at the NBC affiliate in Columbus, Ohio, and served as the midwest regional digital content coordinator for Nexstar prior to joining the NewsNation team in July of 2020.
