UPDATE: The Highway 385 exit has been cleared as of 12:00 (noon) and traffic is moving again.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said a suspect shot at a deputy’s vehicle in the area of I-40 and Sycamore View.

Law enforcement said a deputy saw a reckless driver at I-240 and 385 when he tried to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect then shot at the deputy’s car on I-240 near Walnut Grove and fled the scene to Sycamore View and I-40, heading south.

Law enforcement also said the suspect sideswiped other cars before crashing at I-240 westbound at 385.

The suspect was detained and taken to the hospital.

There are no officer injuries reported at this time.
