(Nashville, TN) The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development released the unemployment rate for the month of August.
Shelby County saw a slight drop in unemployment, but the number of people without a job in the county and the City of Memphis remains high.
Unemployment in Shelby County was 9.7 percent last month and 9.8 percent in July.
The City of Memphis had one of the highest unemployment rates in Tennessee last month– it was 10.9 percent– a small drop compared to July’s 11.0 percent.
