MEMPHIS, Tenn.– Nine people were detained during a weapons bust in a Midtown neighborhood near Crosstown earlier this month.

Memphis Police responded to reports of suspicious activity at a home in the 1200 block of Tutwiler near Bellevue on Feb. 5 just before 1 a.m.

When officers arrived, they heard glass breaking and several people ran from the house. Some officers chased the individuals while additional officers cleared the residence.

Police recovered a stolen Dodge Ram, an assault rifle, seven handguns, marijuana and a scale. Three of the handguns were stolen.

The owner of the house told police the individuals inside rented out the house through an online marketplace app.

Two weeks ago, Susana Hendrix found herself with a front row seat to the raid of her neighbors Airbnb when police were called out to a report of suspicious activity.

“I woke up and looked out the window and there is six or seven cops cars parked in front of my house and the house next door and I heard a lot of noise before that so we knew something was going on,” she said.

Hendrix has called this Midtown neighborhood home for the last thirteen years and she’s seen a lot.

“I found a dead guy out here in a car about eight months ago and found two stolen cars on my property,” she said.

Out of the nine people detained, police confirmed three were taken to juvenile court which is alarming to Hendrix.

“I wanna side with them and they probably are coerced into doing these kinds of things or they are initiated into this lifestyle and they’re to young to make the right decisions. I feel really worried about our future generations,” she said.

Six of the nine people detained were juveniles.

Three juveniles were transported to juvenile court and the other three were issued juvenile summons. Memphis Police told us no adults were charged.
