(Jefferson County, TN) Sharon Bryson, deputy director of communications for the NTSB said the organization will not investigate a deadly bus crash due to the government shutdown.
I-40 westbound in Jefferson County, TN was reopened around 5 a.m. Thursday morning after a fatal crash Wednesday afternoon.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports eight people were killed and as many as 14 people hurt in the crash just past the I-40/I-81 split..
Six people died on the bus which belongs to the First Street Baptist Church in Statesville, NC.
The driver of an SUV and the driver of a semi truck were also killed.
It appears a tire on the bus blew out and the driver lost control.
The bus was leaving a conference in Gatlinburg, TN and headed back to Statesville.
