(Memphis) A Memphis man is behind bars accused of carjacking, kidnapping and raping a woman this weekend.

Michael Ellington faces charges of aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping and theft of property in the case.

Ellington is accused of taking a 22-year-old woman from her apartment in the Mallard Creek apartments in Horn Lake before 10 Saturday morning.

“We do know the girl was taken. Forced at gun point here in Horn Lake and then driven up to Memphis where the assaults took place,” said Lt. Scott Evans with Horn Lake PD.

The victim was sexually assault twice before she was dropped off in Southaven.

Ellington was arrested hours later. He is behind bars on a $500,000 bond.

But Ellington is no stranger to Horn Lake PD.

“We had him back in 2005 for a similar situation, he was charged with carjacking and armed robbery back in 2005,” said Lt. Evans.

According to Mississippi Department of Corrections, Ellington served 7 years and was then put on probation in Tennessee.

News Channel 3 found that Ellington was arrested in Memphis three times since his released from prison in February of 2013. But never was he taken in for a probation violation.

“That’s what we were trying to figure out, why he was down here. Trying to figure out what he was doing here and in the same apartment complex,” added Evans.
