MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Five people were taken to the hospital after a shooting at Peres Avenue and Chelsea Avenue.

The shooting happened late Saturday night. The violence erupted during a huge Memorial Day weekend block party.

Officers found two victims on the scene. One was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The second victim was listed in non-critical condition.

MPD said three more victims arrived at the hospital by a private vehicle. One of those victims sustained abrasions. All three victims were listed as non-critical.

Officers later arrested and charged Vincent Billingsley for convicted felon in possession of a handgun. Billingsley was also one of the people shot during the incident, according to police.
