(Memphis) A man is recovering at The MED following an overnight stabbing in the northeast part of the city.

Police say the man was stabbed outside a room at the Red Roof Inn on Shelby Oaks Drive around 3 a.m. Monday.

According to investigators, a woman was there visiting with her ex-boyfriend Hunter Herron.

The woman’s current boyfriend showed up at the motel .

Both men went outside where a fight took place.

Police say Herron had a knife and chased the victim and stabbed him.

The man who was stabbed was taken to The Med in critical condition.

Herron ran to a nearby motel where he was arrested and later charged with Aggravated Assault.
