Police responded to a crash on Danny Thomas near the Madison overpass in front of the Hope Heights Tower around 7 a.m.

When they arrived, they found the driver of the silver car dead. Bullet holes cover the vehicle.

MPD says the man had gunshot wounds, and the person responsible for pulling the trigger was gone.

Southbound lanes of Danny Thomas between Madison and Union were blocked off for hours as detectives investigated.
