MEMPHIS, Tenn.– Memphis Police are looking for suspects involved in a drive-by shooting outside of a North Memphis home.
Officers responded to the shooting after midnight Tuesday at a home on McNeil Street.
Police say four people were inside when they heard a barrage of gunfire. The home and a car in the driveway were struck repeatedly.
No one was injured, but police say they collected a total of 25 shell casings at the scene.
Surveillance video shows at least two people firing multiple rounds as they lean out of the back windows of a car that was driving past the home.
“Pow, pow, pow, pow,” neighbor Gerry Matthews said. “I thought it was firecrackers.”
Taylor Johnson just bought a home next door.
“Ah, let me call Bank of America. I think it’s time to sell. I think it’s time to sell,” he said. “I have small children. I don’t want to be involved in that.”
Investigators are still trying to figure out who pulled the trigger and why. Matthews said a woman and her children live there and can’t imagine why anyone would want to harm the family.
“They stay off to theyself,” Matthews said.
She’s grateful her family wasn’t caught in the crossfire.
“Yeah I am because usually, I got my grandkids out playing,” Matthews said. “I’m grateful it was over in the night.”
She hopes the shooters are caught soon.
“Yeah so they don’t come back to somebody else house or hurt somebody else because somebody could have gotten hurt,” Matthews said.
WREG knocked at the home but no one answered.
