(WREG-TV) The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for the Memphis area.
The warning is active from 6:00 a.m. Friday until 6:00 p.m.
Up to a half-inch of ice along with less than an inch of snow and sleet are possible according to the NWS.
A Winter Storm Warning is active for much of northern Arkansas and northwest Tennessee starting at midnight.
Today, expect to see cloudy skies with showers.
Temperatures will be dropping with the passage of a cold front and today’s high will be in the mid 50’s, but will quickly drop during the afternoon and overnight hours.
Some areas of northeastern Arkansas will begin to see rain mixed with sleet and freezing rain by late Thursday night into early Friday morning.
Temperatures will continue to drop throughout the day on Friday.
Friday’s high in Memphis will be somewhere around 35 degrees.
The low temperature by Saturday morning should reach the lower 20′s.
