MEMPHIS, Tenn.– Memphis Police are looking for two men who they say stole a Camaro at a Nutbush gas station last month.
Police said on July 29, the victim was pumping gas in his white Camaro in the 3800 block of Macon Road when two men approached him.
One of the men was armed with a handgun and demanded he empty his pockets. Police said the suspects took the victim’s car keys and cell phone before driving off in his car.
One of the suspects recorded a video of himself inside the car. Memphis Police released a clip of the video on Facebook.
People we spoke with near the Z Best Market Gas station on Macon Road where the car was taken say they constantly worry about their vehicles.
Sam who works in the area said a coworker’s car was stolen 3 weeks ago while he was on the job.
“He called the cops. They never do nothing. We just found the car around here in this neighborhood. The car was missing a battery. They stole the catalytic,” he said.
According to the police report obtained by WREG, officers found the stolen car from the video at the Ellington apartments on Kirby Parkway still running.
They said two individuals were seen near the car running away from officers. They were able to get away.
When police checked out the vehicle it came back as stolen and inside they found the cell phone that showed the thief inside the stolen Camaro. Police also found four grams of marijuana inside the vehicle.
Police said both suspects are between the ages of 18 and 21.
