One shooting victim was transported to Regional One in critical condition.

The other shooting victim was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett by private vehicle. A woman was also taken to St. Francis after suffering a medical episode. Both of them are in non-critical condition.

MPD said a man has been detained but they are still searching for others who could have been involved. It is unknown if the suspects and victims knew each other.

There was a large police presence at the mall as police investigated the scene.

While some took cover, first responders from Memphis Police, Bartlett Police, Shelby County Sheriff, and the ATF rushed to the mall.

“We were able to get the mall cleared and very swiftly,” said Stg. Louis Brownlee with the Memphis Police Department.

Two witnesses we talked to said they were inside one of the stores when they heard at least 4 or 5 shots fired. They were later escorted out of the mall by police.

“I’m kind of glad that I’m walking out today because I couldn’t have been,” one of the witnesses said.

No description of the suspect was given at this time. We have reached out to the mall for comment and are still waiting to hear back.
