MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A person was taken to the hospital after getting into a one-vehicle crash Friday morning.

According to MPD, the crash happened on Springdale Street a little before 6:30 a.m. One person was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

The impact caused a utility pole to be knocked off its base, with lines left dangling and debris tossed across the road. A woman who stays nearby says she saw the accident and decided to help the driver who was stuck.

The neighbor heard the driver say, “Help, somebody, please just kick the window in the front– I’m down here.” Although the wires of the pole were sparkling, the neighbor refused to leave the driver’s side.

She refused the leave the driver’s side, and as she was helping, she saw another driver speed away. Police say the driver of the car is expected to be okay.
