A survey by theknot.com found couples spent an average of $30,000 last year on a wedding.

Venue and catering expenses ate up $13,000 of the budget.

Other big-ticket items included engagement rings, reception bands, flowers and wedding photos.

And if you get married in a big city, like New York City, the average is nearly $87,000!
