The Red Door Band plays the second Sunday of every month at Calvary Episcopal Church. The band was put together from experienced Memphis blues musicians including Verlinda Zeno and Stella Payton on vocals, Guy Venable on bass, “Memphis Mike” Forrest on guitar, Dennis Falanga on drums and David Lee on saxophone. Calvary’s priest, the Rev. Chris Girata, says he hopes the unique services will help attract the unchurched and others who love the bluesy vibe of Downtown Memphis. The next service is this Sunday, April 13 at 5:30 p.m. Calvary Church is located downtown at 2nd and Adams.
