MPD is also urging people to sign up for Connect Memphis, a program that allows police to access surveillance and doorbell cameras to help solve crimes faster.
Public Information Officer Kim Elder says that sometimes, tracking down a suspect is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Especially in cases like this one where information is limited.
“The more information we can get early on, the more the investigators have on locating the suspects. And the quicker the investigators can get on track of the suspects, the quicker they get them in custody,” said Elder.

The Connect Memphis program launched last year and so far, more than 4,400 residents and businesses have registered to help identify area cameras in case of an incident.
610 cameras have been integrated so that police can access the footage in real-time.
“Businesses like this, if they would connect their cameras to Connect Memphis, it will help our real-time crime center to be able to see the suspects as they drive by and hopefully be able to get tag numbers and things like that,” said Elder.
With the uptick in violence in Memphis, Elder says this could be huge towards fighting crime faster and keeping our streets safer against senseless tragedies.
