MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is in critical condition after a shooting in southeast Memphis Sunday evening, Memphis Police say.

According to reports, officers responded to the shooting in the 3300 block of River Valley Lane at the Riverdale Apartments around 5:14 p.m.

Police say a man was located on the scene suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to St. Francis in critical condition.

Detectives discovered an AR-style rifle near the scene.

Richard Larrimore has lived in the complex for over a decade. “I heard the gunshots last night, but I wasn’t sure– I thought it was celebratory.”

A witness told police the victim was in pain, pleading “Don’t let me die right here.” As he was being rushed away… the gunman – witnesses described was speeding away.
