MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Millington police say a driver stopped for speeding was arrested after they discovered a fully loaded AR-15 style rifle in her back seat, pointed toward a baby.

Police said Justinaya Conley, 19, was driving with a suspended license when her 2010 Mercedes Benz was pulled over Thursday afternoon in the 4800 block of Navy Road in Millington.

Officers said they could smell a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the car and asked Conley to step out of the vehicle to be searched.

They said that’s when they saw the American Tactical AR-15 in the rear center seat next to an 11-month-old in a car seat.

Investigators say the rifle was fully loaded with .300 blackout rounds in the magazine and one loaded in the chamber for a total of 30 rounds. They said the fully loaded rifle muzzle was within hand’s reach of the baby boy.

This comes just weeks after police say a toddler-aged child accidentally shot a woman dead in a car in the Wolfchase area.

Officers said they also found a kid’s toy bag in the trunk that contained 279 grams of marijuana and two scales.

The child was transported to the Millington Police Department and picked up by a relative. DCS was also notified.
