MEMPHIS, Tenn. – District Attorney General Amy Weirich told WREG her office will look into recent incidents at the Silver Spoon Restaurant and Lounge.
Memphis police have responded to 27 calls to the nightclub so far this year, including a shooting last weekend that sent a bystander to the hospital.
WREG looked into the club’s past.
The Shelby County Clerk’s Office confirms the name on Silver Spoon’s business license is JTE LLC. However, WREG obtained 2014 property records that list William “Curtis” Givens, Jr., as the property owner.
According to The Department of Revenue, Givens plead guilty in 2011 to sales tax fraud and theft charges at the club.
WREG spoke with a Silver Spoon employee over the phone who said JTE LLC owns the property, but Givens is a promoter.
The employee said Silver Spoon has doubled its parking lot security, and the violence is from the Hickory Hill area.
He said the public incidents of violence are similar to recent events at Target and Kroger, in that they do not have to do with the business.
The employee said Silver Spoon cares for its employees and fellow businesses and is not relocating, contrary to rumors.
The District Attorney General’s office does not currently have any investigations against the club on file.
