MILLINGTON, Tenn. — A Durham School Services bus driver died after an accident Friday morning. Doris Hopson was taking students to Millington High School when she had a medical emergency behind the wheel and passed out. Five Millington School District students were on the bus at the time of the accident. They were not injured. The accident happened at Big Creek Church Road and Cold Springs. Hopson’s name was brought up Thursday during a news conference, with Durham and Shelby County Schools. A reporter asked if Superintendent Dorsey Hopson was related to a Durham driver named Doris Hopson. Superintendent Hopson said he was not and moved on. During that news conference Durham and SCS said they plan to re-screen all their drivers for drugs and criminal histories due to a number of incidents involving SCS buses.
