MEMPHIS, Tenn. – On Monday, April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse moves across Mexico, the United States and Canada. Below are the many ways to watch in the Mid-South.

Memphis will see a partial eclipse for 2 hours 37 minutes. 97.9% of the sun will be obscured by the moon at the peak. For Memphis, here is the timing of the eclipse:

Peak: 1:57 p.m.

End: 3:15 p.m.

BARTLETT

  • Event: Total Eclipse of the Park Lunch Party
  • Location: Freeman Park
  • Time: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Details: Live music, food trucks, and information about the celestial activity. Eclipse glasses provided by Bartlett’s own Paper Optics.

COLLIERVILLE

  • Event: Solar Eclipse Day
  • Location: Collierville Burch Library
  • Time: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Details: All-ages gathering behind the library building. Eclipse glasses and snacks given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Craft activities for kids in preschool through Grade 5. No registration required.

MEMPHIS

Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid

  • Event: Solar Eclipse Viewing
  • Location: Mississippi Terrace at the Big Cypress Lodge
  • Time: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Details: Viewers can witness the eclipse from the Mississippi Terrace. Bring your own viewing glasses.

Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis

  • Event: Solar Eclipse Rooftop Viewing Party
  • Location: Beck & Call rooftop lounge
  • Time: 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Details: Special eclipse-themed drink, music, and exclusive views. Tickets $20 (includes special glasses) and free for hotel guests.

Memphis Botanic Garden

  • Event: Solar Eclipse Drop-In Activity
  • Location: Memphis Botanic Garden, Great Lawn
  • Time: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Details: Guests provided a seat on the Great Lawn to witness the solar eclipse. Eclipse glasses available for purchase in the gift shop. Free with Garden admission.

Memphis Riverfront

  • Location: Hanover Family Welcome Center at Tom Lee Park

  • Details: Limited number of free solar eclipse glasses available for the first 100 visitors.

Memphis Zoo

University of Memphis Central Campus Eclipse Gathering

  • Details: Free eclipse glasses available while supplies last. Solar observation through a telescope provided by the UofM Department of Physics and Materials Science. Dr. Benjamin Keller, an astrophysicist, will have a telescope set up on the Student Plaza.

Olive Branch

  • Event: Great American Solar Eclipse Event
  • Location: Olive Branch City Park
  • Time: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Details: Co-hosted by Olive Branch City Park and Arc of Northwest Mississippi. Free event with eclipse glasses available, local food trucks, and live music by Mississippi Moon Festival.

Overton Park

  • Event: Total Eclipse of the Park
  • Location: Greensward in Overton Park
  • Time: 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Details: Free event hosted by the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art and Overton Park Conservancy. Free eclipse glasses provided. Lunch options available for purchase.

Peabody Hotel

  • Event: Solar Eclipse Watch Party at the Peabody Hotel
  • Location: Rooftop of The Peabody
  • Time: 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Details: Music from DJ A.D., solar eclipse views, and commemorative Peabody eclipse sunglasses provided. Tickets $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 5-12.

T.O. Fuller State Park

  • Event: Solar Eclipse Trek
  • Location: T.O. Fuller State Park
  • Time: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Details: Join a park ranger for a trek toward the Chucalissa mounds to witness the solar eclipse. Eclipse glasses provided. Tickets $5 per person.

OLIVE BRANCH

  • Event: Great American Solar Eclipse Event
  • Location: Olive Branch City Park
  • Time: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

UNION CITY

  • Event: Discovery Park Viewing Party
  • Location: Discovery Park
  • Time: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Details: Experience 99.2% eclipse totality at Discovery Park. Take part in “The Epic Eclipse” quest and other special activities, or head to the Great Lawn where food will be available for purchase from Eats and Treats and Sabin’s Cafe. Bring your own glasses or pre-order them for park pickup.

WEST MEMPHIS

  • Event: Solar Eclipse Afternoon
  • Location: Tilden Rodgers Park
  • Time: 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Details: City officials invite locals to join them at Tilden Rodgers Park for an afternoon under the cosmos. Attendees to bring their own eclipse glasses.
