PANOLA COUNTY, Miss. — On the day of 19-year-old Jessica Chambers’ visitation, her father asked the community to pray for her family and the people investigating her murder.

“I want everybody to pray for our Sheriff’s Department, you know, because I know they’re working so hard day and night,” Chambers said.

Jessica died Saturday after someone fatally lit her on fire along Herron Road.

District Attorney John Champion confirmed there are no updates in her murder investigation at this point.

He’s talking to a doctor about her autopsy results, though he said it will be six to eight weeks before that report is ready.

Champion and Sheriff Dennis Darby told WREG Thursday investigators are looking at cellphone records and leaving no stone unturned.

Investigators have not been able to provide WREG an incident report yet.

WREG also spoke with a Goody’s spokesperson Friday, who said Chambers was “a joy to work with,” and she will be greatly missed.

Chambers’s visitation is Friday 5 to 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Her funeral is Saturday at 2 p.m.

Her family is asking that anyone wishing to send memorials send them to Renasant Bank, P.O. Box 1525, Batesville, MS, 38606.

The account name is “In Memory of Jessica Chambers.”
