(Memphis) Mother of three, Mariam Kearney, said she thought something was going on inside her next door neighbor’s home, but she wasn’t quite sure, “She didn’t let them speak at all, they just walked with their head down.”
She wasn’t surprised to learned the woman who once lived next door to her, 21-year-old Ashley Bradshaw, was arrested Wednesday and is now facing Aggravated Child Abuse Charges.
According to police, Bradshaw took her 2-year-old daughter to the Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital to be treated for burns.
According to police, she told staff the toddler was burned when she was left alone in the bath tub and turned on the hot water.
But Doctor Karen Lakin told police the child’s injuries did not match that story and that the burns were “suspicious for non-accidental trauma.”
Bradshaw is now behind bars with $100,000 bond.
The two-year-old is recovering at Le Bonheur.
According to the Department of Family Services, this is second time in less than two months that they have investigated Ashley Bradshaw.
They said a case was opened at the end of March when Bradshaw was accused of abusing her 4-year-old son.
They would not release details of that case.
But Molly Sudderth from DCS told News Channel 3, the kids were allowed to stay with Bradshaw until the investigation was completed.
The state has 60 days to investigate each case.
The second incident occurred during the investigation.
The state now has custody of both kids.
