WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — German automaker BMW is expanding a recall for Takata airbags to the entire country.
The recall affects 140,000 BMW 3 series vehicles made between January 2004 and August 2006.
BMW says no problems have been reported with its vehicles, but the Takata airbags have been linked to at least five deaths in other vehicles.
The airbags can deploy with too much force and send shrapnel into the car.
