We asked our Informed Sources panel members to pick their person of 2014 in Tennessee.
Justin Fuente, U of M football coach, was chosen by WREG’s George Brown. Fuente has turned around the football program and made a positive impact on Memphis and the area, according to George.
Otis Sanford chose Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam for his bi-partisan efforts and recent move to expand Medicaid in the state.
Susan Adler Thorp chose developer Bob Loeb for his vision of the new Overton Square. Susan also chose Ekundayo Bandele, the founding director of the Hattiloo Theatre, for his vision for the Black repertory theater. Loeb and Bandele worked together to build a new home for Hattiloo in Overton Square and establish a theater district.
David Kustoff chose Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich for the work she does in that office plus how she handled herself and what became and odd, and at times viscous, race against Joe Brown.
