SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — The Shelby County school board has approved the settlement with the City of Memphis.

The school system alleged that in 2008, the City Council cut funding below what the state required. The court agreed, and ordered the city pay the school district $57 million.

The city will pay SCS $28 million and provide $13 million worth of services.
