TUNICA COUNTY, Miss. — A Mississippi woman is dead after investigators say 38-year-old Angela Starks died in her home while her house was engulfed in flames.
Tunica County Chief Deputy Randy Stuart said the fire call came out at 11:51pm Friday night in the 1100 block of Edward Avenue.
Stuart said a Tunica County Deputy arrived a minute later and observed several people trying to get entry into the residence.
The officer further advised information received from several people on the scene that the owner of the residence was trapped inside.
The officer and several others attempted to enter the residence, but was unable to gain entry because of heavy smoke and flames from the fire.
After Tunica County Fire Volunteers put the flames out of the home, they found Stark in the bedroom.
The American Red Cross Office in Memphis was notified of the incident by the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office in an attempt to relocate the family members that lived with Ms. Starks.
At this time, there is no suspicion of arson or homicide.
Fire Investigators, State Fire Marshall, and Tunica County Sheriff’s Department are all working together to gather more information to determine the cause of the fire.
