MEMPHIS, Tenn. — For the second time in as many days Friday, Kendrick Ray was back in front of a judge.
This time the 21-year-old, who is charged with a road rage shooting that put four children and a father in the hospital Tuesday, was arraigned on charges from a separate carjacking that left a woman shot and hospitalized on June 3.
Judicial Commissioner Leslie Mozingo, who sat in for Judge Louis Montesi, informed Ray about the charges against him, including carjacking and attempted first degree murder.
A judge Thursday set Ray’s bond at $1 million for the I-240 shooting. The judge on Friday tacked on another $300,000 bond for the June 3 shooting.
In the June 3 shooting, a 31-year-old Army veteran who had just moved to Memphis was pumping gas in South Memphis. Three children were in the car.
Police say an Infiniti pulled into the station’s lot and several men — one of whom was allegedly Ray — got out and held the victim at gunpoint.
The victim tried to fight them off but was shot three times. Her mother told WREG her daughter has undergone several surgeries, one of which was 14 hours long.
Ray has been ordered back to court at the end of the month. He is facing the possibility of more than half-a-century in prison if he is convicted of the charges associated with the case he was arraigned on today.
