MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Medical Company Medtronic has agreed to pay millions for allegedly lying about a product.
They are accused of claiming their spinal surgery devices were made here in Memphis, when they were made in China and Malaysia.
According to Modern Healthcare, federal law requires all products sold to the military be made in the United States or by another designated country.
“This resolution focused on a limited number of accessories and surgical instruments used in spinal surgeries that were provided to Medtronic by third-party suppliers and were manufactured in China or Malaysia.”
“The overwhelming majority of Medtronic’s products are manufactured in the United States or by its trading partners, such as Mexico or Ireland.”
Although Medtronic claimed they did nothing wrong, the settlement requires them to write a whopping $4.4-million check.
