MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jack Sammons received approval Tuesday morning from a Memphis city council committee to be the new Memphis Chief Administrative Officer.
He must go before the full council to get approval from the executive committee.
If approved, Sammons will replace current CAO George Little.
Tuesday morning, some council members said they want Sammons to quit his current job as Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority chairman.
Sammons says he will do that, as the law requires but he has several important meetings with airlines coming up.
Sammons also said he will not campaign for A C Wharton when he seeks reelection.
