JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson police announced they have arrested and charged a Memphis man for the shooting at Lane College.

That shooting happened on Thursday.

Jimtarius Hampton, 19, was transported to the Madison County Jail and is scheduled to face a judge on Wednesday.

He is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon on school property.

Investigators said Hampton, a student at the college, shot a gun while near a group of people.

The bullet hit a fellow student in the thigh.

Hampton was arrested Monday night in Jackson.
