MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Be prepared to expect an even bigger headache if you plan on using the Interstate 40/240 interchange within the next several months.
You’re going to see more lane closures and detours.
It all started Wednesday on I-240 headed towards the I-40 on-ramp towards Nashville.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation sent WREG its plan:
Beginning Wednesday, April 8 at 8:00 p.m.: I-240 eastbound beginning near the Walnut Grove interchange and extending to the I-40 eastbound ramp, traffic will be reduced to three lanes of traffic.
The I-240 eastbound to I-40 eastbound ramp will be reduced to one lane and shifted to new outside lanes.
This shift and lane reduction will be in place approximately four months.
Saturday, April 11, 6:00 a.m. through Sunday, April 12, 6:00 p.m.: I-40 eastbound ramp to Nashville will be closed for paving.
Saturday, April 11, 6:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: I-40 westbound ramp to Little Rock is closed for paving.
Sunday, April 12, 6:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.: I-240 eastbound to I-40 westbound is closed.
