MEMPHIS, Tenn. — WREG crunched the numbers and found a day at Bass Pro was not cheap.
But visitors we talked to said it was worth it.
“Of course it was worth it. I’ve been waiting for 2 years to get in here,” said Danny Looney.
Looney and his son Brady, spent their morning at Bass Pro.
They spent about $300 on their visit, and they weren’t alone.
They were just two of the thousands of people who took in the sights and sounds of Bass Pro.
“We came for the attractions today,” said Margaret Mosby.
She said Thursday was all about looking and said she’ll come back later for the shopping.
Most had a lot of looking to do; there’s a restaurant, bowling alley, arcade, enormous elevator, an alligator and tons of fish for people to check out.
It was free to look at the animals but the other activities will cost you.
To ride the elevator it was $10.
A cheeseburger at the restaurant was $12.
For a game of bowling on the weekend plus renting shoes it’s around $42.
The grand total for a family fun day to the pyramid: $142.
But no matter the cost, most people we spoke to said the same thing.
“It was well worth it. It was,” said Mosby.
“The observation deck is amazing. You get a view you can see the whole city, it’s definitely worth the $10,” said Brady Looney.
Mosby believed people would pay for the attractions and make Memphis a destination.
“It will draw people to Memphis, that’s what we’re looking forward to the excitement of drawing people to Memphis,” she said.
