MEMPHIS, Tenn. — For the fourth time this week, a Memphis firefighter was injured on the job.
This time battling a vacant house fire in the 2700 block of West Redbud Circle in the airport area.
MPD officials told us the firefighter was treated on the scene early Friday morning, but didn’t go into details about how he was injured.
Wednesday, a firefighter hurt his knee battling a fire in a vacant building at the Kimball Cabana Apartments in Orange Mound.
Investigators said that fire was intentionally set.
Neighbors said they wouldn’t be surprised if the fire on Redbud was also arson.
They said recently they’ve seen people going in and out of the vacant house.
“I think it’s bad. I think they ought to do something about it. I told my husband I just wish they would take the house down,” said Marsha Williams.
Neighbors said they tried to get the city to clean up the overgrown property, but if someone did start the fire that put a lot of lives at risk.
